Nailing ceremony - Filip SkärinFilip Skärin, doctoral student in Production Systems, will nail his doctoral thesis on September 16th. The nailing ceremony takes place at JTHs entrance at 09.30 am and you are all invited to attend. After the ceremony, you are invited to meet for coffee and "spiktårta" that will be served in Galleriet. The nailing ceremony is an old tradition in which the thesis is released and no changes may be done thereafter. The title of Filip's doctoral thesis is "On the Transition Towards Circular Production Systems". Filip will defend his thesis on October 10th at 10 am in E1405 (Gjuterisalen). AI lecture on digital learning that requires pedagogical changeSarah Prestridge, visiting professor from Griffith University in Australia, will give a lecture on 22 September on how two new digital systems can finally enable real change in schools. These are online-based and flexible learning pathways and generative AI, which shifts the power of learning to the students. These systems are reshaping teaching roles, pedagogical methods and fundamental beliefs about knowledge. Sarah will discuss how teachers' reasoning and pedagogical beliefs are evolving and adapting to these changes. The lecture is organised by the AI network JAINe (Jönköping University AI Network for opportunities across disciplines). MMTC research Seminar presented by guests Chetna Chauhan (Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia) and Sher Jahan Khan (FORE School of Management, India).MMTC seminar with Chetna Chauhan (Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia) and Sher Jahan Khan (FORE School of Management, India). Chetna is presenting the research titled as "Investigating the algorithmic transparency within organizations through upper echelons perspective". Drawing on Upper Echelons Theory, this study examines how top management team (TMT) characteristics shape firms’ adoption of algorithmic transparency and service ethics in competitive contexts. Using a Bayesian hierarchical modeling approach, we analyze survey data collected through validated instruments, complemented by firm-level variables such as CEO founder status, CEO IT background, CEO gender, and Chief Information Officer in Top Management Team. The Bayesian framework allows us to capture the inherent noise in Likert-based responses and incorporate prior information for more robust estimates. The findings highlight the role of executive attributes in driving ethical and transparent algorithmic practices and provide theoretical and managerial insights into how leadership profiles influence firms’ technological and ethical orientations.
