Trial lecture for appointment as associate professor - Leif-Magnus JensenWelcome to attend to Leif-Magnus Jensen's trial lecture for appointment as associate professor on February 25th, 1 pm - 2 pm in E1405, JTH! The lecture's title is: Broadening distribution – new challenges and new research Abstract The new distribution reality challenges the received view of distribution as simply moving a finished product “from factory to consumer.” The first project deals with humanitarian logistics, the challenge of setting up supply chains to deal with small or large disasters. The combination of damage to infrastructure, short time-frames and sometimes hundreds of involved actors makes this a great challenge to logisticians. Changing tack, I then shortly present results on a project extended service models in the heavy vehicle industry, where the focus is rather on what happens once a product is sold. How transporters use a heavy vehicle can be as important as how it is made in terms of both what the customer will pay for and sustainability impact. Finally, I return to implications for distribution research. Organizer: School of Engineering |

Trial lecture for appointment as associate professor - Eva JohanssonWelcome to attend Eva Johansson's trial lecture for appointment as associate professor on February 25th, 2 pm - 3 pm in E1405 (Gjuterisalen), JTH! The lecture's titel is: Supply chain design during new product development Abstract In many industries, large structural changes affecting the supply chain have taken place over the last decades, for example a greater number of product variants, more customisation, modularisation and outsourcing trends, and global suppliers have become ever more involved in new product development. This has led to many different requirements on the supply chain and if these requirements are not dealt with in coordination with suppliers, industrial engineers and design engineers, there is a risk of sub optimisation. In addition, companies have much to gain from shortening the new product development time to reach the market early with new technology and products. The structural changes affecting the supply chain and the trend towards shorter new product development time have altered the conditions for supply chain design and underlined the importance of integrating supply chain design during new product development. The lecture will present examples of challenges related to supply chain design during new product development but also tools for dealing with these challenges. Organizer: School of Engineering |
